about me

Thanks for coming to my page. I recently retired after 32 years teaching high school mathematics in Anoka, Minnesota. For the past ten years or so, I’ve been shooting photographs, and really enjoying it. Family and friends have been very encouraging (and patient), and their comments have given me the motivation to share these photos with you.

When I was teaching, I believed (and still believe) that each and every student can learn significant mathematics.  Of course, “significant mathematics” will mean different things to different students.  The important thing was (and is) that there should be no one saying, “I’m not good at math.”

If I feel that way about mathematics (and I do), then I must have the same opinion about other curricular areas, like music, industrial technology, and art.  Instead of saying, “I’m not very artistic” (which I have said a few times in my life), I’m trying to show that there is an artistic part of me that can shine through my photographs.

Travel has been a big part of my life for a long time, and it’s fun to document the travel with photos.  I get inspired to travel to places I’ve seen through others’ pictures, and I hope to inspire others through the pictures you’ll find in the galleries.

My primary goal is to put out work that makes people happy; however, if you choose to purchase one or more prints, please know that you’re helping others, too – I donate 50% of all my proceeds to charities in the Anoka/Twin Cities area.
