France Luxembourg

We spent some time in France and Luxembourg in 2026. Both are wonderful countries, and we felt we saw only a little bit of each.

We started our journey in Paris, then went to Tours, in the wine country along the Loire River. From there we went to Reims, in the Champagne region. After that, we spent some time in Luxembourg City and surrounding area.

We were very impressed with every part of the trip. Each has its own charm and lovely vibe.

Here is a view of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, from one of the most famous streets in the world, the Avenue des Champs-Elysees.
This is a glimpse of Paris at night, as seen from the top of the Arc de Triomphe.
We're in the Place de la Concorde here, with a view of the Eiffel Tower and the Luxor Obelisk, which is approximately 3,300 years old.
No photo gallery of Paris would be complete without some pics of the Eiffel Tower.
Here's another photo from the top of the Arc de Triomphe. I would highly recommend climbing up to the top just before sunset, as the views are gorgeous.
It's hard to take a pic of the Eiffel Tower that hasn't been seen by millions of others, but I like the beacon shining toward the top.
You can see the Louvre at the top of this photo.

This is just one photo, taken in the same spot as the previous one, but with a slightly different viewpoint.
Here's a third pic from the same spot, with the camera angle changed. This is one of the many fun things about photography.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Champs-Elysees
Here's a pic of the Louvre, taken from another excellent museum, the Musee d'Orsay.
The Cathedrale Saint-Gatien stands out in Tours, France.
This was taken at a vineyard outside Tours. I liked the two red flowers contrasting with the greenery.
New, small grapes, growing in Chinon, France
This is the Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Reims, in, perhaps not surprisingly, Reims.
These are but a few of the 100,000 bottles of champagne in one room of one cellar in one champagne house in Reims.
I liked the positioning of the newer cars in front of the older houses.
Here's a view of Ville Haute ("upper town") in Luxembourg City.
Here's a view of The Grund, or lower part, of Luxembourg City.
Parts of The Grund go back 600 to 1,000 years.
The flag of Luxembourg is similar to that of France, but with horizontal stripes.
The geometry teacher in me really likes this shot.
Luxembourg is known for its white wines, in particular the Cremant, a sparkling wine.
I liked the colors of these "vases."
Sometimes a person just has to post a whimsical photo.
This is the Gelle Fra, a statue commemorating the Luxembourgers who served with the Allies in the First World War.
The wine industry is very big in much of Luxembourg.
I have a few pictures of vineyards in this gallery, and I think that's OK.
Just as each grape variety is different, so too are the vineyards.
Cheers!
